"Jupiter" from the fourth movement "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" of the orchestral suite "The Planets" by the English composer Gustav Holst. Holst composed this piece in the years 1914 to 1916 for a large symphony orchestra, in the last movement "Neptune" an additional six-voice women's chorus is used. It is late-Romantic programme music which is similar in character to the later full orchestral film music and whose effect on the listeners is created by the monumental sound effects and timbres of the orchestra. This suite was first performed in 1918 by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
